About

Author Nick Lotito

During my decades as a criminal defense lawyer,  www.atlanta‑criminal‑law.com, writing has long been an avocation. As a supplement to my day job, I have expressed myself through poetry, political satire and occasional letters to various editors. For over 25 years, with Christmas cards, I have included an Alta Avenue Gazette, an annual newsletter, masquerading as a newspaper, replete with headlines, stories and anecdotes, laden with puns and humorous accounts of the year’s happenings. I refer to the 200 plus recipients as “subscribers”, although they may have done little or nothing to make the mailing list.

During the pandemic, in an effort to connect during sheltering, I started posting vignettes on Facebook, writings suggesting the Gazette had gone daily. While not attempting to elevate myself to their level, others have described my style as reminiscent of Dave Barry or Art Buchwald. Over the course of 2020, from March through December, 150 vignettes had been posted. Various readers encouraged publication, and in 2023, this has resulted in my first book, The Corona Monologues.
